Powell Church has long been a mission-driven community of faith. We take seriously Jesus’ call to love and serve our neighbors. Powell Church is also solidly committed to helping our neighbors in need right here in East Tennessee through efforts such as our food pantry, Highways and Byways, Morgan-Scott Project, Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree, and many more. These ministries, highlighted below, are also a great way to serve others and grow in your faith journey.
Food Pantry
Our food pantry has served over 2800 families in 2018 from the local communities. We are open Monday through Friday from 9am-10am, and the third Saturday of each month from 9am till 11am. For more information call the church office at 865-938-2741.
The Clothes Closet
Clothes Closet is back open and available every third Saturday of the month for those in need. If you would like to donate to this ministry, below is our current needs.
Casual clothing for adults is also being accepted. Small sized men’s clothing is especially needed. Donations can be brought to the church office during the week or at Guest Services in the Worship Center on Sunday morning
Holiday Basket Ministry
We provide Thanksgiving baskets for families in our community that need a little help to provide a holiday meal for their family. This is a great opportunity for your family, small group, or Sunday School class to get involved.
Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Party
Each year we host a Christmas party for children in our community who have a parent or step-parent in prison. You can adopt an angel to provide two gifts for the child on behalf of their parent that is incarcerated. We also need lots of volunteers to make our party a success. The children get to have their picture taken with Santa, make crafts, play games, eat lots of food, and experience the love of Jesus. For more information, click HERE.
