We are thankful for the love and support that Powell Church has for the community, especially the extra “food love” you give during the holidays! We announced on Sunday that after our listening sessions and in striving to be in alignment with our Core Objectives of Financial Stability and Community Engagement, we decided to put our focus on Thanksgiving Baskets only, which allows room for December to be focused on other ministries like Angel Tree, Cookies on Christmas Eve, and Happy Birthday, Jesus! This helps us extend our reach for Thanksgiving without overwhelming the other areas of ministry the Lord has called us to as a church. We’ve already seen the fruit of this by pivoting the Christmas Extravaganza into the School Shoe Drive for the Clothes Closet and we can’t wait to see how the Lord blesses these changes.
In our first week of taking registrations and gathering sponsors, all 22 families will have Thanksgiving dinner provided for! THANK YOU for being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ through feeding the hungry in our community through the Basket Ministry! Below are the ways you can serve in the days ahead:
- Sponsor a Thanksgiving Basket (Tier 1, 2, or 3 based on family size)
- Sponsor HALF of a Tier 1 Basket (A-List is around $25 and B-List is around $40 plus $15 donation for Turkeys purchased from Second Harvest by the Food Pantry)
- Sponsor $25 Gift Cards for Children’s Christmas Gifts (distributed with the baskets)
- Serve on Distribution Day, November 24th, 2-4 PM
- Provide a hot snack for Distribution Day for those we serve as they pick up their baskets
