On Wednesday evening, February 17 beginning at 6 PM in the worship center, we will gather for an in-person Ash Wednesday observance. Like our Sunday morning and Thursday evening gatherings, all participants will need to pre-register through the church center app or clicking HERE. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40 day season we call “Lent,” a time when we remember that we are people in need of God’s love and grace. If you feel uncomfortable gathering in-person, the Ash Wednesday service will livestream on both Powell Church’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. If you choose to worship with us online, be sure to acquire some ashes or dirt/mud that will be used in the service. If you choose to be with us in-person that evening, we want to ensure you that we will put our best practices at work in order to create a safe environment for those who choose to gather in our Worship Center. We look forward to being with you for this holy day as we remember that we are people in need of God’s forgiveness and grace.
ALSO
On that Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, we will offer a “drive up” option to receive ashes in observance of this holy day as we begin the season of Lent. You will have the option of receiving the ashes either on your hand or your forehead; we will ensure that our best practices are in place in order to provide a safe experience. Drive to the worship center and follow the signs to the doors under our covered drop-off area. Please remain in your vehicle and someone will come to you to administer the ashes. It is our desire to worship God in the safest ways possible while also remembering the great traditions of our faith.
