Powell Church and Ministry UPDATES

“Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all, for the Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition and with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In moments like this, I am reminded that our God is still God! There is one thing you need to know about me; I have a tendency to rely too much on my own abilities and understanding in order to deal with challenging situations. And I start asking: “How do I fix this? What do I need to do to make things right? What more do I need to do? What am I doing wrong?” All of this internal antagonization only brings stress and worry upon myself, and I don’t let Jesus into these moments of self doubt. Fortunately, I believe God has placed some internal stops in my life that eventually kick in and remind me that God is God, that I can trust God with everything that I have, and that God will see me (and us) through the struggle, as God has ALWAYS done throughout all of history and time. Darkness does not win when the light of Jesus shines through, even when the smallest of holes gets poked into the veil of darkness and fear. So here we go!!

As for being the church, we are simply going to do that differently as we move forward into the weeks and months ahead. We will be worshiping online, we will be gathering in groups through a variety of different methods and online platforms, and we will give and serve using different means. But we will continue to be the church! The normal ways in which we have done things may seem like they are going away, but new ways of being the church and doing ministry are upon us, and we are creatively coming up with new ways to be the church every single day.

I encourage you to take a look at our resources page HERE, or the social media links at the bottom of this newsletter, to check out our most current news on events, ways to worship, ways to connect, ways to give financially, ideas for children and families, and other helpful resources that will benefit us to do church in a new way. Yes, the normal may be going away, but the new is coming! That is the message of the gospel, even to the end of the book of Revelation.

We look forward to doing church in a new way, and we invite you to join alongside of us as we continue to worship and serve the God who still sits on the eternal throne, the God who has us, the God who is promised to never leave us.

With love,
Pastor Brad
